FIFA 22 is perhaps an absolute highlight of the auction that scored 8 points in our evaluation earlier this year. Sure, FIFA 22 doesn't change much compared to FIFA 21, and we don't like the microtransactions available in Ultimate Team mode, but the soccer is enjoyable and the matches are fast-paced and player animations look fantastic through EA's HyperMotion tech.

As for Madden NFL 22, we gave it a score of 7 in our review, and declared it "a recent record-breaking game in the series," thanks to more advanced and more varied AI teams, brand new features like Gameday Atmosphere and Gameday Momentum and a revamped Franchise mode that makes idle time between games more enjoyable as opposed to last year's.

We didn't have a look at NBA 2K22 or NHL 22 in particular, but both games have picked up decent reviews from critics this year. NBA 2K22 is currently sitting at a Metacritic score of 78, and the general consensus to the game's gameplay is positive but hampered by issues with the technical aspect and microtransactions in some modes.

NHL 22 The NHL 22 contrary, was viewed more negatively, and averaged a 70 on Metacritic. As we noted in our review roundup of NHL 22 many reviewers praise the hockeybut are not too keen on the level of innovation.
