Jagex's integrity is what I believe would suffer most. Although it's a good step toward making Jagex more enjoyable for players, some might view it as being unsure, orRuneScape Mobile gold even making up stories about bringing back the wilderness. The business perspective would show that those who quit and get angry are not as profitable and would possibly help in the long-term growth of the player-base.
Although this will not solve all of botting issues of free players (as well as doing nothing for the players), I think it's reached the point that a major step such as this will be needed to stop the RWTers and make freeplay the game I was familiar with. Jagex will keep working against bot makers. They must be able to show progress and provide updates.
Jagex must bring back the faith of its players. They need to be more proactive and prove that they are able to run this game, because right now it looks like it's totally out of their hands.
