I thought about posting the story but got busy. Frankly, this may kill consoles for me personally. In Canada games are now 79.99 + tax. That attracts games. That means games will probably be $100 if prices go up. If I need a steelbook edition, I am looking at almost (going by standard prices) $150. Then if they want to do a whole lot of DLC or2K MT even add-ons? It's unacceptable. Since salaries are stagnant, and we're in the middle of a pandemic.
I had a hard time justifying $30 for the Sky of No Man during the Steam Summer Sale. Thankfully NBA 2K21 has been fun enough that I believe it was worthwhile. At $100? Hell no. Hopefully this is just Take Two being greedy fucks, however I guess that because of how well sports games market (because people seem to enjoy these copy and glued yearly releases) other publishers won't be long to follow.
Lso, em, if they raise the game cost, you bet that they will increase the expense of DLCs and expansions to reflect the bottom price. Just gont create things much more pricey and reduce how many titles individuals would have the ability to afford. Playing on PC is much more economical it is not even amusing anymore. Turns out a competitive software marketplace pushes prices down to basically free. Who knew that could work uh. It's cheaper to buy, but that depends upon if you've got a excellent machine.
You do not require a costly PC to play most games. And it is cheaper / more justifiable if, like a lot of people, you need to use a pc anyway on your life. I assembled my PC 8 decades ago and in that time I bought a few RAM, a hard drive, and replaced the card. It still plays the newest games at high graphics and high framerate.I only replaced my Gen 1 i5 this past year and the GPU is due an update today. My PS4 was a large sorrow purchase when I got it and Killzone Shadowfall played. I then didnt find anything I enjoyed until Horizon on the machine: Zero Dawn, God of Spiderman and War. It been a mediaplayer.
Consoles have become PC hardware in a premium cost. They are largely beholden to also their willingness to invest in servers which results in D/l prices that are shitty and Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo. I interested and incredulous about the PS5 electronic only. As (at the UK atleast) the electronic copies of Playstation games come almost exclusively throughout the PSstore meaning the price is always high unless they decide its sale period. This is making me wonder whether consumer watchdogs will start to consider notification Sony etc, which they must allow alternative store fronts around the stage.
Another wrinkle in what's likely to be $70's normal shell cost: $60 was set as the 15 years ago back when retailers got a cut. That committed electronic distribution has become primary and game retail stores are on the road out, there is even less requirement to perform this. And greed finds a way. Additionally they're putting a person on the cover to sell duplicates fuck away 2K.
I'm a patient gamer. However, I still have instances where I wish to purchase NBA 2K21 because I have been expecting it for a very long time. Nintendo names are a day one purchase forNBA MT Coins me, because it speaks to the quality of their games- especially games from the Zelda franchise. I also have a child now, and if she is old enough, she is likely to need games to get things like Christmas and Birthdays. Kids don't know this crap. I'm not likely to disappoint her only because I want to stick on it to the'man'. In terms of things like the eshop - I really don't buy from the eshop. The reason is I am believer in NBA 2K21 game ownership. A lot of folks got fucked over if the Wii's shop went down.
