Why We Should Be Concerned About OSRS's Future

Two things right offRS gold the bat. This post will be extended. Although this post is extremely critical of recent modifications to RuneScape -- actual and proposed -- I want to stress that I'm thankful for all the hard work Jagex staff have set into RuneScape. I love attempts and your enthusiasm. However, the hard work of Jagex doesn't obviate certain serious issues I have for the future of RuneScape. As a community we should be VERY concerned with the proposed slayer update. Not just because of the update itself, but what it means for development choices.

I fear Jagex has lost sight of everything OSRS is; this is about from the business that gave us EOC. There's been substantial backlash from the Slayer update Since the Reddit community knows. Criticisms have focused on a plethora of problems, but perhaps the largest is that applying the 15 percent damage/accurate bonus of this Slayer Helmet to some boss-only Slayer Master, could be incredibly overpowered and would forcefully shift the entire PvM meta.

Rather than address this foundational problem -- that this update is too large, too meta-shifting, too much buff -- Jagex, in a tone-deaf reply, has focused on smaller"concessions" (more on this later). Jagex's strategy isn't malicious by any stretch, but it is an illustration of"losing the forest for the trees" This update cannot and should not be regarded as a collection of discrete suggestions to be viewed in vacuum.

Well, let us think foundationally: what's OSRS? OSRS is more popular than RS3, as most know. There are many reasons for this, however, most fundamentally, it comes to nostalgia (for childhood); and also a series of exceptionally unpopular changes in RS3. The tiniest changes include notably EOC, commerce removals and wilderness, in addition to an overall push towards Microtransactions, EzScape, and DailyScape. In other words, OSRS's achievement could be read as a backlash against RS3: and, even more specifically, a backlash against too many modifications.

It is unsurprising that at OSRS Jagex has polled many of the alterations that are significant. They wish to avoid. Given the backdrop of the failures of RS3, I write to remind we need thoughtful, CONSERVATIVE updates, that don't fundamentally change RuneScape. Mind you, that does NOT mean"no new upgrades." New content is completely required to maintain RuneScape fresh and individuals coming back. At the same time, people are weary of content that lacks an old-school feel: content that is too meta-shifting andbuy runescape 3 gold too overpowered. The Slayer that is proposed update ventures.
