Elden Ring Items' recent 1.09 update introduces a bug that's been causing serious trouble for magic wielders using sorceries and incantations.
Elden Ring's 1.09 update features a critical bug that inhibits the harm output of magic wielders hanging around. The massive blockbuster hit continues to be receiving support via updates and patches more than a year after its massively successful launch in 2022, though a few of these updates happen to be causing more headaches for Tarnished players in The Lands Between.
FromSoftware's proceed to a giant open world setting with Elden Ring would be a welcomed one. It offered players a feeling of freedom never felt in a Soulslike game before it. Adding to this degree of freedom may be the ability to produce a full-on magic build if a person so chooses, completely forgoing the requirement for melee combat altogether. The Lands Between provides a bountiful way to obtain incantations and sorceries that are being sold from merchants or found through exploration. Additionally, some spells and consumables can offer temporary damage buffs to a lot of these damage-dealing sorceries and incantations, opening a wealth of combinations for magic users to test out at the range.
These damage buffs may become essential for the prosperity of magic builds within the late game, but a bug in update 1.09 has removed their effects, leaving magic users scratching their heads. Reddit user Flint_Vorselon posted a relevant video testing out different combinations of sorceries and incantations both in versions 1.08 and 1.09 of Elden Ring. The video highlighted the increased damage from buffs these were dealing in version 1.08 was no longer being applied, with those self-same buffs active, in version 1.09.
Among the incantations tested was Flame Sling, an incantation where players sling a fireball at their enemies. In both versions 1.08 and 1.09, the bottom damage for Flame Sling is 308. When the Howl of Shabriri buff is added, that Flame Sling damage jumps as much as 385, a 25% rise in damage output. However, in version 1.09, with this same Howl of Shabriri buff active, Flame Sling still only does 308 damage. The same thing happens with Golden Vow, an incantation that's designed to grant the ball player a 15% damage buff. Flint_Vorselon continued to express that each spell and incantation hanging around is impacted by this bug, listing other spells and consumables like Rallying Standard, Exalted Flesh and Flame Grant Me Strength.
This might not seem like an enormous deal in the beginning, but the slightest difference in damage output could mean life or death in Elden Ring. Considering this really is such a widespread issue that touches every spell and incantation hanging around, every magic wielder in The Lands Between will have the effects of this bug. Damage buffs are a significant part of any RPG, but especially in this type of challenging game like Elden Ring. It's safe to visualize that this really is a bug that will eventually be fixed by FromSoftware, but for now, magic wielders might feel inclined to get a sword in the meantime.
elden ring items can be obtained now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
