Gosh, this seems so complicated. On the 1 hand, kudos formeseta pso2 keeping the original game intact so that there won't be a riot over changes people do not like. But on the other hand, since they are remaking base PSO2 visuals anyway, I wish they would only go 100 percent and synchronize personality models completely. Giving old players some free style items and unlocks will be enough to bribe everyone to accept the new system.
Synchronizing 100% character models does not seem simple. The dilemma is that the old outfits and coating use are modeled to fit the old pso2 body. To be able to synchronize it, they would have to recreate from scratch (haha pun) 8 decades of makeup. That's not likely to occur. I mean that I would be ready to shed a certain proportion of those makeup to keep things intact around versions. Provided that there's a steady feed of cool new stuff to replace it, I don't mind. I constantly rotate out my older looks anyway. As long as the character versions translate 1:1 it will still feel like mine.
The instance I can think of is that the Monster Hunter Frontier Z collaboration where I could imagine the clothes and weapons could unquestionably be provided a visual update alongside everything else but that I don't exactly understand how the licensing or the way the lawful side of this cooperation functions where I'd wish it had been as simple as Sega going through and updating the assets but I do not understand about how much of Capcom is involved in this procedure.
The same is applicable to collaborations like the Final Fantasy XIV cooperation with Odin (which exists as far as I know) where I do not know how much of Square Enix is involved in that for Sega to be able to update assets . When it was purely just Phantasy Star-related things (like character outfits, cameos from different games, or other Sega-related possessions ) I could imagine that this probably would have been achieved, or would be carried out. But from the Global variant we already don't have the presence of Cougar NX therefore I don't exactly know if there are additional complications seeing Sega's properties which may also contribute to not updating everything they can within reason.
I can envision that probably out there we'll still see somebody wearing those older collaboration items even if they aren't awakened tocheap PSO2 Meseta the very same standards as new cosmetics in a similar way and that there definitely would have been outrage if it had been made obsolete or unusable. Collabs that have had their makeup removed still have their assets exist on the game so those will likely still be accessible for jp players.
